Bible Exhibition with Reverend Rush and his team of volunteers

14.1.22

We have had a second fabulous week with the children from Badger Class presenting their own assemblies - this time with the theme of kindness. We've seen kindness poems, posters, stories and songs woven into the assemblies which have given us food for thought. We have some wonderful friendship pairs and groups in the class who have really supported each other with this task

Badger Class have started the new year with a new challenge - assemblies led by the children. Mrs Lait and Mrs Kataiwai were extremely impressed with the wealth of enthusiastic volunteers who wished to take on the task of planning, preparing, practising (in their own time) and then delivering an assembly to Badger Class. First up with this week's theme of friendship were Skye and Georgia who truly demonstrated the amazing power that friendship can give to confidence levels. They were assisted by actors Harry and Tearnie in a play the pair created for their assembly. We all thoroughly enjoyed the assembly and look forward to the next ones.

Year 5 have been using place value counters to support their learning in maths when multiplying and dividing:

Maths Week 8.11.21

This week in Badgers we have relished the opportunity to show off our maths skills during Maths week, linking it to our Letters from the Lighthouse story. The children worked hard to work on the problem, using a squared diagram to support our systematic thinking. We also joined in with two live lessons; one about how animals were a vital support during war-time and the second a Tom Gates webinar about books and poems that explore the theme of war.

Basketball Tournament 11.11.21

Yesterday our Year 5/6 basketball team went and played a number of schools at Uppingham School Sports Centre. All of the children were fantastic ambassadors for our school and demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience and determination. They also looked incredibly professional in our new school sports kit!

We are delighted to announce that they came 3rd and have qualified to attend the finals in two weeks time! Well done, we are so proud of you!

Thank you to Mrs Kataiwai, Mrs Measures and Mrs Zackowicz for taking them!
